Ceilings...4 down, 2 to go!

I suppose I'll blog more today because I'm still sick, and don't feel like really doing much. I hadn't been working on the house much for a few months, and I was starting to get restless a few weeks ago. Why does this happen to me? If I haven't done any house projects for a while, I get a little obsessive and I cannot get it out of my head until I work on something. I seriously go nuts. I decided to keep working on the popcorn ceilings since that's sort of the first step. I also changed all the switches and outlets in the kitchen and dining room, but that's really not worth before/after pictures. Actually, popcorn ceilings probably aren't either, but I'm sharing anyway. Sharing is caring, after all. I really wish the pictures could depict the amazing difference when the popcorn is gone, but alas, they simply don't do it justice.

I started with Ben's room. His room wasn't bad. He had "pee yellow" walls (once I thought that, I couldn't get it out of my head), slightly pink trim, and of course...the ceiling. Yellow is actually one of my favorite colors, but I generally have a hard time with it on walls. I think it can be pretty, but I tend to avoid it for the most part. I think it's easy for yellow walls to look a bit dingy. I love yellow as an accent color, though. Anyway, moving on.

BOOORING and dull. Yep. I know. I promise this is not the end result. I have a lot left to do here, but I won't be able to work on it till next month at the earliest. But, one more popcorn ceiling down! Yay!

My first attempt at vaulted ceiling popcorn removal. It actually went really well! I admit I was a little nervous because there is a lot. Looking at it before I started I was a little overwhelmed at the expanse. Not only that, but I have to be on a much higher ladder. But it went really fast, the hardest part was cleaning up afterward. With popcorn ceilings it seems some parts are really hard, and some are really easy. Thank goodness this room went into the "really easy" category, because Ben's room was a PAIN and it's the smallest room in the house!

I'm ALMOST DONE! I only have the kitchen/dining area, our bedroom, and above both the staircases to do. I already started both the staircases but haven't found a way to reach it all, so I'll ask my dear husband to help me out on those. :) We'll see if I can convince him it's not so bad. And then next month will be a ton of ceiling painting. That's my plan, anyway. I'm so anxious to just be finished with them all. Will thinks I'm a total nutcase, but I believe we were both already aware of that. So it's okay.

PS I feel like the pictures are a little bit dark. But I don't know if they're actually dark, or if it's just in my head. My head is not exactly itself lately. So if they are dark, sorry about that.
